There’s a new reason to brave the crazy Metro traffic just to get to Marikina –dining at Patio Vera. Before their dishes satisfy your palette, be mesmerized by the striking furnishings –which include antique mirrors, towering wooden doors, Marikina-made shoes and old sewing machines, responsible for this house-cum-restobar’s rustic-with-a-tad-of-modern charm. Restauratuer and doctor Rommel Caballes named his newly-opened restobar after his grandmother who spent her life as a shoemaker.
Patio Vera is an ideal place for couples, group of friends or family who would want to avoid the crowded restaurant inside malls. If you prefer to eat indoors, you can choose to dine at the white room but dining by the patio or at the garden under the bright stars are romantic ways to spend your evening.
Dennis Caballes, Rommel’s brother who assists him in running the restaurant, suggests you try their Paella de Mariscos and their Seafood pasta. They also have their own version of a Pinoy favorite, the Chicken and Pork Adobo which is affordable at P285. Patio Vera’s zonteas –which are milk and tea-based drinks, as well as their coffee-based drinks won’t only satisfy your thirst but will also please your eyes.
You can also enjoy a drink or two after a hard day’s work at Patio Vera. They have a long list of drinks and cocktails which you’ll surely love. A dinner for two may cost you around P700, depending of course on what you order. But don’t worry, their servings are generous. You can check out their menu on their Facebook Page. They accept walk-ins and reservations, as well as cater to private parties. -HFD
